QUINCY, Fla. — There's another bat infestation at another local school. First, it happened at Chiles High School in Tallahassee. Now, the cafeteria at George Munroe Elementary in Quincy.
A lone bat could be seen nestled on the wall of the cafeteria for hours Wednesday. But that wasn't the case earlier in the morning.
Renesha Jackson, the food service manager, says, "They were just flying around the kitchen and they were around my desk and they flew over our heads and stuff. So, we were just hurrying up to get outside so they wouldn't attack us."
The Gadsden County Schools Superintendent Reginald James made the call to close the cafeteria at George Munroe Elementary School because of the bat infestation.
The principal, Allysun Davis, says, "We've had an opportunity to do a thorough cleaning to make sure all of the bacteria and everything is gone."
Staff members say they've seen up to 25 bats flying around in the cafeteria. The inspector says, that means there could be hundreds of bats not seen.
