After college's foodservice provider quits, students left to find other options

Harrisburg Area Community College students have turned to vending machines and the campus Subway for food items.

HARRISBURG, Pa.—Students at Harrisburg Area Community College this week could no longer purchase food in the campus cafeteria after the school's dining service provider suddenly quit before its contract expired.

Richard Cardamone, HACC's executive director of business affairs, said HACC had notified Omni Dining Services on April 8 that the contract would expire on June 30 of this year.

In a statement released to students this week, he said the school received notification on May 7 from Omni “that food service on the Harrisburg Campus would permanently close May 8, 2014.”
