Everyone is talking about how hospital foodservice operations will be affected by the Affordable Care Act, but no one is talking about how LTC facilities will be involved. Because many patients, especially elderly ones, are discharged from the hospital to an LTC facility, we have a role to play in reducing hospital readmissions. We work with the local hospitals to ensure patients are given nutrition education from the beginning to the end of their stay with us.
