To reduce waste, we take all of our food scraps and donate them to a local farmer for him to feed his animals. We give him things like watermelon rinds and lettuce cores. Last year we removed 25,000 pounds of food scraps from the waste stream. It also helps reduce electricity and water that we would have used to run the garbage disposals.
