Technomic sees growth for non-commercial segments

Non-commercial foodservice is now more than a $82 billion industry, according to research firm Technomic’s annual study.

While the foodservice industry is only expected to grow by a mere 1.4 percent in 2015, four non-commercial segments—senior living (6 percent); hospitals (3.5 percent) business and industry (2.7 percent), and colleges (2.5 percent)—are expected to outpace that growth rate.

What each segment generates in equivalent retail sales:

Business & Industry$14.5 billion
Hospitals$11.9 billion
