More than 80% of UC San Diego Health employees said they would be interested in a preordering program, says Chris McCracken, nutrition services director for the San Diego health system. To respond to this demand, the department is launching an app and web-based preordering program at its La Jolla, Calif., campus in early 2018.
Along with the app launch, McCracken’s team will implement a cashier line that will only accept staff paying with their IDs during peak periods. The streamlined ordering process will promote the declining balance program and offer staff another option to save time while grabbing a meal, he says.
