2. Coffee to go in K-12
Duval County Public Schools last spring debuted a traveling coffee station that switches locations weekly. Setting up shop at a new school in the Jacksonville, Fla., district is fairly simple, as the station is made up of folding tables, tablecloths, tiered shelving and some signage, Jane Zentko, contract compliance director for foodservice, told FoodService Director earlier this year, noting that the station’s limited engagements help build excitement among staff and students.
Iced coffee is the top draw at Mayfield High School’s new coffee cart, which opened in January. To bolster participation, the cart offers a 50% discount on coffee when students at the Mayfield, Ohio, school also buy a food item for breakfast.
