D.C. council to approve new contract with Chartwells after lawsuit

Dining services uncertain for troubled Virginia college

Anticipated Sweet Briar College president Phillip Stone says he’s not sure whether provider Aramark will return to the struggling school, but hopes to have food for students.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections is renewing its foodservice contract with Aramark, despite an employee union counter-proposal to privatize.

Daniel Boone School District laid off 30 cafeteria workers, opting to go with foodservice provider Nutrition Group, which says it will hire most of the workers back.

The University of Michigan recently cut ties with Opus One Catering, which had provided food for the university’s North Campus Research Complex cafeteria, catered lunches and other catering-specific events.

Under the new 15-year contract, the foodservice provider will manage Yosemite’s hospitality programs, which include food and beverage, lodging, retail, and recreational and transportation services.

A district is considering opting out of the National School Lunch Program due to costs and worries that the calories aren’t enough for student athletes.

Nearly all laid-off Sodexo employees were re-hired by Chartwells, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s new provider, saving the school about $500,000.

The University of Vermont has signed a five-year dining services contract with Sodexo, which it says will better respond to student dining preferences.

The Energy Express is a five to six-week summer reading and nutrition program, providing children with two healthy, family-style meals a day and more than three hours of daily reading and learning.
